Mark Naples
Songwriter, Singer, Guitar, Piano
"He who knows, why should he keep it hidden?"
This is an ancient Sumerian proverb that encapsulates the spirit of The Insignificant Man. The lyrical content of the songs is based on esoteric (hidden teaching) doctrines that have been apparent throughout the millennia. These principles have not only been studied extensively by Mark, but they have been directly experienced and continually proven. It is more than a belief - it is a gnosis (knowing) of the mystic & philosophical ideal that man and nature are One. With this in mind, understand that although the lyrical content was written by one hand, it is more the culmination of where humanity - metaphysically speaking - has progressed to date.
The Insignificant Man was recorded as a solo project i.e Mark wrote the songs and did most of the instrumentation on the album himself.
Mark was born on 8th July 1980 and was brought up in the infamous UK town of Leighton Buzzard. He went to the University of Derby and then moved to Edinburgh as the result of a series of amazing synchronicities which landed him with a job at Pharo.com - a Convergence Publisher specialising in the research of Alternative History & Mystery subjects. This allowed Mark to interact with some fascinating people from around the World that seemed to understand what it was he was trying to convey through his music.
The Insignificant Man heralds the fourth return of Mark Naples to the recording studio. He first went in to record the track 'Adventure' when he was 16 as part of the band 'Shine' with friends Simon Fox, Lee Crampton & Craig Stevens. Following success around Leighton Buzzard, the band (now called 'Change') went back into the studio the following year to record two further tracks 'You & Me' and 'Going On'. At 18 the band split as they all went their separate ways to University, but just before this Mark went to attend a two week Studio Rock course at LIPA - Paul McCartney's old school.
Here he was in a band with various other enthusiasts from around the World (Johan Bergqvist, Christopher Pichler, Torsten Gross, Akiko Fukuda & a few others whose names don't come to mind just now! - sorry!). Together they recorded three tracks, 'How Can I Tell Her Now?' (written & sung by Mark Naples), 'Angel of my Dreams' (written & sung by Johan Bergqvist www.johanbergqvist.com) and 'My Honey' (written by the entire band).
Mark has been writing songs for
many years (on guitar & keyboard), with inspiration being drawn from the power
of Nature & the magic of the Universe.
